Ivory-White Tipis
These stunning tipis feature a vibrant canvas that allows an abundance of natural light to illuminate the space, surpassing the standard tan-coloured tipis. Moreover, the white canvas beautifully reflects artificial lighting during night-time. This 'white' canvas also serves as a versatile backdrop, allowing you to showcase your unique style and creativity.
Genuine Nordic Tipi’s
Tentipi, a Swedish company, manufactures the tipis. Founded by Bengt Grahn in 1989, the inspiration for these tipis came from his experience in Lapland, where he faced challenging conditions and sought shelter. Bengt Grahn was inspired by the ingenuity of the Sami people, nomadic reindeer herders in North Scandinavia, who designed their 'kata' shelters to withstand harsh arctic winds. This led him to incorporate their traditional design into creating the best tent for camping expeditions and exciting events. Tentipi has continuously refined and improved their tipi design over the past 30 years, resulting in unrivaled strength, durability, and safety. These tipis are not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing.
Frequently asked questions
How big are the tipis?
The tipis are an impressive sight, standing at a height of 7.5m. With a diameter of 10m, they can accommodate up to 72 seated guests or 80 standing guests. Despite their spaciousness, the conical walls create a cosy and comforting atmosphere.
What happens if it is very windy?
Safety is their top priority, and they take all necessary precautions to ensure the well-being of you, your guests, suppliers, and their tipi crew. The tipis are designed to withstand even the harshest weather conditions, engineered in Sweden to withstand Arctic weather. Unlike traditional marquees, the conical structure of the tipis allows wind to flow around and between the peaks. If high winds are expected, we may need to make adjustments to the tipis, but they will always inform you in advance.
Are the tipis comfortable in very hot weather?
During hot weather, the tipis are equipped with a clever ventilation system. Each tipi has a "smoke cap" at the peak that can be raised, and the sides can also be lifted to provide a view from inside. This allows cooler air to be drawn in from outside, creating air circulation as warm air rises and is released through the open smoke caps.
What happens if it is cold or wet?
While we all hope for sunny wedding days, the unpredictable British weather may bring cold or wet conditions. In such cases, the sides of the tipis can be lowered or window walls can be installed to keep you warm and dry while still enjoying the view outside. They also can also provide heaters if needed, although fires are not permitted inside the tipis due to the risk of smoke damage to the canvas. However, they do offer an outdoor firepit as an alternative.
How many guests can be accommodated?
The tipis can accommodate both small dinner parties for 10 guests and large banquets for over 200 guests. Multiple tipis join together to create a single space for your event, and the layout can be customised based on your preferences and available space.
Do Tipi Spaces supply lighting?
They provide fairy lights and festoon lights inside the tipis for a cosy ambiance, and additional festoon lighting can be supplied to create pathways. The ivory-white canvas of the tipis allows for plenty of natural light during the day and reflects artificial light at night. Candles are also allowed, but caution is advised.
Do Tipi Spaces supply furniture?
The team can supply a wide range of furniture options including tables, chairs, bars, sofas, barrels, dancefloors, and stages. If there's something specific you're looking for and can't find in their Hire Collection, they can usually source it from another supplier.
Does the ground need to be completely flat?
The ground does not have to be completely flat, but very steep slopes are not suitable and can be uncomfortable for you and your guests. The team have experience building tipis on uneven farmland, so it is not a necessity for the ground to be perfectly flat. However, it is helpful if the grass can be mown before construction begins and any loose grass is collected. The floor matting will adjust to the contours of the ground, so be cautious of any mounds or divots.
