The Walled Garden at Mells

Situated a few miles to the west of Frome, this delightful 17th-century walled garden produces a beautiful selection of native English flowers and plants to create unique bouquets, buttonholes and table arrangements. Amongst many other species, Jo Illsley and her exceptional team grow delicate beds of sweet peas, cornflowers and poppies, all of which are maintained to the highest possible standards.

Friendly, relaxed consultations can take place inside The Walled Garden's delightful café, where you can gather inspiration from the flowers naturally growing around you, and discuss with Jo your wedding budget, theme and colour scheme.

Fabulous floristry workshops are also available at the garden, where you could learn how to create your own floral arrangements - perhaps even for your own wedding!

About

Overseen by Jo Illsley, The Walled Garden at Mells opened in 2007 and now provides gorgeous flowers from the 1st of March through to Christmas.

From simple bunch bouquets with a rustic, country feel, to vintage-inspired or more contemporary designs, Jo will work closely in harmony with your theme and colour scheme in order to create a unique arrangement of seasonal flowers that will be in full bloom on the day of your wedding.

Although primarily specialising in naturally-grown English flowers, certain plants can be specially sourced from an independent supplier on request.

Jo and her team are readily able to set up and deliver their unique designs within a 200-mile radius of Mells. They can additionally provide a superb selection of vintage vases and floral candelabras to display your arrangements to their optimal effect.

Consultations

Friendly, relaxed consultations can take place within the historic garden itself, where you can draw inspiration from the elegant blooms displayed around you and discuss your requirements in the celebrated café over a cup of tea and a cake!

Share with Jo and her team your own ideas of exactly what you would like, or let them inspire you with their expert advice about fresh seasonal flowers that will beautifully complement your wedding theme and colour scheme.

Unique bouquets and arrangements can be designed with your specific budget and colour tone in mind, and graceful bridesmaids' bouquets together with groomsmen's buttonholes can be correspondingly produced in perfect coordination.

Floristry Workshops

For those of you keen to grow, condition and arrange your own wedding flowers, The Walled Garden at Mells can offer some fun and informative classes you may well be interested in attending.

The workshops are suitable for all skill-levels, and focus on teaching students how to create their own wedding bouquets, buttonholes, corsages and floral decorations.
