About

The Roseate Reading was built in 1911 and originally stood as Shire Hall, constructed for the Berkshire County Council. The council used this building until 1980 until they relocated and the building remained vacant for many years.

In 2006, Shire Hall was lovingly refurbished and opened as the luxurious hotel that stands today, maintaining many of the noteworthy features from the original building.

    We stayed here the night before and the night of our Wedding where the ceremony and reception were held. It was nothing short of sensational. The food in the bar, at Breakfast and at the Wedding reception was superb and at all stages the service was exemplary. I really do not think we could have picked anywhere better. We also had a beautiful room which we loved.
    Our Wedding was run with non-intrusive efficiency which meant it all went like clockwork and left us to just enjoy the day without concern about anything. It was a master class on how to run a major event.

    We would like to give a huge thank you to all the staff at The Roseate Reading for the absolutely incredible service at our wedding and for making it such an amazing day. The event manager worked with us for several months to ensure every last detail was organized and executed. The restaurant manager was fantastic, always there when we had a question and helped to keep things calm and running smoothly. We really felt like we became friends with the staff at the hotel and I cannot praise them enough. The hotel is very elegant and cosy, the food was delicious and the service was outstanding. Thank you again for a day we will never forget, I will be returning very soon!
