The Barn at Alswick

If the idea of a barn wedding makes you giddy, then The Barn at Alswick will make you fall head over heels. This lovingly restored 16th century venue offers total exclusivity for bespoke weddings.

Situated in the Alswick Estate, access to the gardens provides a picturesque backdrop for wedding photographs. Pose on the formal lawns with your bridesmaids or explore the wildflower meadow as newly-weds.

History

The Barn at Alswick was launched in 2017 by happily married Matt and Kay Hamilton-Crook. Their goal when they started hosting weddings was to give each couple a truly unique and personal experience.

Matt and Kay worked together with a team to preserve the Barn. They stayed true to the ancient oak beams and walls, making sure everything remains standing for years to come, but upholding the integrity of the building.

A claim to fame, Alswick Hall Estate was mentioned in the Domesday Book and was named after the Saxon woman who owned it. The hall, built in the sixteenth century, was a frequent resting place to Queen Elizabeth I. Today the house's cherished gardens are lovingly maintained and will be open for wedding photographs.

The Barn

The expertly renovated barn would be proud to host your entire wedding, from ceremony to wedding breakfast and reception. Large glass double doors open up to a room which ties contemporary comfort with historical architecture. Vaulted ceilings lined with beautiful wooden beams make for a spacious yet cosy atmosphere. The room can be arranged to perfectly suit your individual requirements and is a fantastic blank canvas for all wedding themes.

There are various other beautiful spaces that you can utilise during your wedding day, your reception drinks to your private moments alone as newly-weds. The dedicated on-site dressing room is perfect for the bridal prep, ensuring the hair and makeup is done in style. Spilling out from the barn, you and your guests will discover the enchanting gardens of Alswick Hall. Packed with endless hidden gems and hidden corners, it is the perfect backdrop for your wedding photos! There is also the cosy snug station between the dressing room and the main barn, with soft seating and a tea/coffee station, this is the perfect space to rest your feet from the dancefloor or wind down with a nightcap at the end of a magical day.

Catering

The reputable B&R Dining Catering provides all wedding day food. Couples can bring in an external caterer, however there is a charge of £1200 for this.

Accommodation

Offering authentic glamping tents, up to 22 of your guests can enjoy glamping on the grounds. They even provide a luxurious Honeymoon glamping tent for the happy couple.

The hire of the glamping tents includes a continental breakfast, shower and toilet block, USB charging station per tent, under floor heating and a few goodies!

    The Barn at Alswick was the first wedding venue my now husband and I went to view. We went up on an open day and fell in love with the venue. The simplicity and elegance of the place is amazing. We had a tour of the grounds from Ellie and fell more in love with it and knew it was the place we wanted to get married. Kay and her team helped us through every decision and made our wedding smooth and stress free, and they couldn't have done anymore for us. The staff are excellent and so friendly. All our guests were amazed by the venue and we have had so many compliments about it. Can't wait to get our pictures back from our day and be reminded of what a fantastic day we had at the Barn.

Ellie was great when we were planning our wedding, always replying to emails quickly and helping our ideas come to life. Ellie, Kay, Claire and the team were superb on the day, so calm and reassuring, we knew we were in safe hands! We loved staying in the glamping pods too - so comfy and the honeymoon suite is stunning. So many of our guests said how much they loved the venue and the chilled day.
