History

St Julians has a diverse and interesting history. Dating back to 1836 and built by John Herries who lived in the house until after the second world war. In 1951 it was incredibly difficult for mothers and wives to work professionally so St Julians was bought by a group of families with a view to provide nursery care to allow mothers to work, if they so wished. In 1956, A Member's Club was formed with extensive facilities such as a swimming pool and a bar. Today, St Julians makes for an idyllic private location to wed, dine and be merry.

The Lounge

The Lounge is the original drawing room with beautiful long bay windows that open onto the terrace. The Victorian Conservatory is accessed through double doors through a dreamy canopy of sweetly smelling wisteria, the perfect spot to say 'I do'.

The Gallery

Or perhaps The Gallery has stolen your heart; say your vows framed by a large alcove bay window with views spanning the valley and beyond. It is available as a separate space for pre-reception drinks, a kids' room or a chill-out area - whatever takes your fancy! The Gallery is marvellously furnished with an ever-changing collection of paintings by local artists and has a lovely alcove bay window where you can exchange your vows.

Additional facilities - swimming and tennis

Extend your wedding celebrations and make the most of the outdoor heated swimming pools and tennis courts. There are also extensive grounds including a terrace with lovely views of the Weald, apple orchard and gardens. There are 40 acres of woodland with scenic walks throughout. There is a children's play area next to the paddling pool as well as swings, slides, a sand pit and an adventure playground.
