The Old Chapel Centre was built in 1801 as an Independent Church of Christ. It has been carefully refurbished but the interior has been unchanged for 200 years. It still has many of its original features including gorgeous stained glass windows, wooden panelling, pews and, of course, the pipe organ.

The Old Chapel Centre is run on a voluntary basis. It is suitable for ceremonies of a Christian nature but will open their doors to those who worship other faiths. They have the options of wedding service, wedding service and reception or reception-only - all at a very affordable rate.

Facilities

The Old Chapel Centre has a kitchen and toilets, a small walled garden and a private car park for around 4-5 cars.

Wedding Ceremony

There is seating space for up to eighty guests and standing room beyond that if needed. The cost includes the use of the Chapel for the wedding ceremony up to 6pm. Minister's fees and those of the authorised person, including help preparing your service and the wedding certificate. You would also have the use of the fully equipped kitchen, white china and cutlery for eighty people, square/rectangular tables, chairs or, alternatively, you can hire your own. They can provide you with a list of local caterers on request and, what's even better is that there is no additional charge to use The Old Chapel Centre as your reception as well.

Wedding Package - £850 (all day until 6pm)

Evening Reception

You can hire The Old Chapel Centre as your evening reception at a rate of £28 per hour from 6pm to 11pm. There is a discounted rate for those living within the village.

Services

The Old Chapel Centre's Minister is happy to help you put your service together offering guidance and advice on music and readings. Alternatively, if you would like to choose your own minister or celebrant, you can with approval from the Chapel's Minister

You also have the option of two organs, which can be used during your ceremony. The Wedding Planner can recommend experienced organists for you to contact.

Marriage Vows

You have the choice of three ceremony options:

Ceremony A

• Declaratory words - I do solemnly declare...
• Contracting words - I call upon these persons here present...

Ceremony B

• Declaratory words - I declare that I know no legal reason why I...
• Contracting words - I...take thee...to be my wedded...

Ceremony C

• Declaratory words - The Minister will ask 'Are you...free lawfully to marry...
• Contracting words - I...take you...to be my wedded...

Exchanging rings

The Old Chapel Centre suggest "I give you this ring as a symbol of our marriage and as a token of our love", although you may wish to use your own words, if so, the Minister must approve these in advance.

Loud music is not permitted and receptions must finish by 11pm.

Catering

The Old Chapel Centre does not provide catering, although their Wedding Planner can recommend local suppliers that offer a wealth of catering choices. Or for a fee, the Events Manager will organise this on your behalf having got to know what you are after and what your tastes are.
