History
Around 1086, Nettlestead Place was owned by William the Conqueror's half-brother Odo, the second in power after the King of England. Typical of the period, manors were compact, and centred around a church and open land, as is Nettlestead with Saxon origin St Mary's Church adjacent to it.
Undercroft was added by the Wahull family in the 12th century, adding a medieval touch to the house. In 1913 it was brought by Ronald Vinson who built onto the medieval range to reassembles what the house offers today. The present owners Roy and Annabel Tucker have with a great passion kept the gardens and grounds rejuvenated and filled with life.
