Founded in 1998 by Jon, Moonrakers are a unique band that covers Oxford and the surrounding areas. The group of professional musicians have used their talents to create four bespoke albums this includes: Silken Thread, Bird on the Wing, Beneath the Snow and Both Sides. The Band
The bespoke band is made up of four professional musicians including:
Jon
Jon is the founder of Moonrakers and has been performing since the 1980s across Oxfordshire and the surrounding areas.
His music has featured on a number of different programmes including the award-winning Global Echoes radio programme. One of his songs has also been used as a backing track on BBC 4 and his music has been commissioned by the National Cooperative Movement.
Liz
She is a classically trained violinist who also loves to play her Sonic electric fiddle. She can play a number of tunes including blues, rock and folk music and has experience of teaching and composing music for schools.
Sarah
Sarah is an award-winning talented musician who joined Moonrakers in 2016. Her awards include the Outstanding Vocal Award 2013. She can play a selection of instruments including the guitar and piano and has experience working as a solo act across Oxfordshire. She has established two of her own community choirs and organises a number of events for charity.
Ellie
Ellie also joined the band in 2016 and is their professional harpist. After studying Music at University she went on to play at the Royal Albert Hall with the Philharmonic Orchestra. She has had the opportunity to perform with a number of bands including The Unthanks, Luke Daniels and the Cara Dillon band.
