Maid of Gingerbread

Forget about fruitcake, Maid of Gingerbread is creating jaw-dropping table top centrepieces out of (you've guessed it) gingerbread.

Whether you want something quirky and interactive to stun your guests, are looking for a fun wedding favour or even just aren't that fond of cake, Maid of Gingerbread is the ideal alternative.

About

Emily founded Maid of Gingerbread in 2010, aided by her years' of baking experience and, perhaps surprisingly, a solid background in woodwork and construction. With this experience, Emily is able to create stunning edible centrepieces for wedding, celebrations and commercial events.

Now, with the help of her small team, Emily creates innovative and inspired gingerbread designs, from stunning sprawling castles and grounds, to delicate hand-painted hearts. Some of their most impressive success stories have been features on 8 Out Of 10 Cats and in Hooligans Magazine. Maid of Gingerbread even created a working gingerbread clock for display in Harrods.

The Gingerbread

Maid of gingerbread can incorporate a variety of flavours, colours and shapes into their designs, to match your wedding colours or theme, either using icing or hand painting. They can even make biscuits that are vegetarian or vegan, so you won't have to worry about any of your guests missing out.

Whether you're looking for a miniature version of your venue or a fairytale castle, Maid of Gingerbread is guaranteed to be up to the task. Some of Maid of Gingerbread's previous challenges have included an elaborately iced working piñata, filled with rainbow sweets, an abstract European skyline and even an Ancient Mesopotamian temple, the Ziggurat at Ur.

They can also create interactive boxes to surprise your guests with, one couple for example asked for gingerbread boxes filled with edible biscuit photobooth props.

As well as the gingerbread itself, Emily can make a variety of other sweet treats for you to enjoy, these include other biscuits, chocolate brownies and even slightly more traditional wedding cakes, studded with a variety of your favourite biscuits.

Services

Emily aims to tailor your wedding centrepiece specifically to you, adding in little nods to your personalities or hobbies. Therefore, the first order of business is an in-depth consultation, allowing her to get to know more about you and your partner. She will then create an initial design proposal, containing several ideas for you to look over. You can then meet up again to go through the designs and arrange a tasting session to pick flavours.

Emily can be as involved as you would like, either using her experience to propose possible ideas, or else, just bringing your imaginations to life.

Extras

If you're planning on a more DIY wedding why not get in touch with Emily to discuss setting up one of her private classes or bespoke group workshops? It's a great alternative to your typical hen or stag do as well as fantastic opportunity to learn how to make your own delicious wedding favours.

We thoroughly enjoyed working with Emily on our centrepiece. We loved how imaginative and creative her suggestions were. The finished centrepiece was so gorgeous we were a little sad to smash it. Our guests loved breaking off delicious morsels and searching for the hidden treasures inside!
