Macdonald Windsor Hotel

The Macdonald Windsor Hotel is a sophisticated and modern townhouse hotel in the heart of Windsor. Located on the main high street, this boutique hotel has stunning views of Windsor Castle ideal for memorable wedding photos.

The rich interior design of the hotel makes it an attractive, contemporary venue to host your day. It can host up to 100 guests and has two different rooms licenced to hold ceremonies. There is a dedicated wedding team on hand to help you through the day.

History

The townhouse has a long association with the Caley Family. The building was used as a successful dressmaking shop and they were awarded with an honour medal of warrant by Queen Charlotte. The business prospered but by the end of WW1 it declined dramatically.

The building was sold to the John Lewis partnership and in 1953 rebuilt the High Street frontage in approved Georgian style. In 2010 Macdonald Hotels opened the 120 bedrooms and is the latest addition to the portfolio.

The building is mainly new build, retaining many of the original features in the listed section of the building.

Facilities

Castle suite

The Castle suite is the larger or the two suites available for weddings. It holds a modern, contemporary design and poses as a blank canvas for themes and decorations of your choosing. There is a built in dancefloor for your evening reception.

Ceremony capacity - 100 guests

St George's suite

This suite is the smaller of the two but holds a similar design to the Castle Suite. This room is ideal for intimate weddings that can seat close ones.

Ceremony capacity - 70 guests

Alternatively, many brides and grooms hold their ceremony across the road at the Guildhall.

Catering

The catering team at the hotel specialise in creating menus from fresh produce as opposed to using frozen. They are flexible and you have the option to choose from their set menus or tailor your own. There is the choice to have a buffet instead or in addition to your main meal.

Accommodation

The hotel has 120 boutique bedrooms for guests to choose from. Their beautiful bridal suite is available for the bride on the eve of her wedding and the married couple on the night.

    Dale and I had an amazing wedding day, it was perfect. The location was fabulous as we knew it would be. The staff at the hotel were excellent and made our day so enjoyable, it all went very smoothly. The afternoon tea was delicious and the staff were very attentive, everybody complimented the tea and the staff.
    The evening buffet was fabulous, lots of compliments and many stated it was the best wedding buffet they had ever had! I did not sample the buffet as i was still full from the afternoon tea but Dale tucked in and thoroughly enjoyed it.

    We were lucky enough to have both our Wedding Ceremony and Wedding Breakfast at Macdonald Windsor Hotel on Christmas Eve 2015. Wow! From the moment I first picked up the phone to Matthew, Wedding Co-ordinator to start arranging our Wedding to the time we then left the hotel after our Wedding everything was effortless, not a problem, beautiful, perfect and faultless. Nothing was ever too much trouble for Matthew when organising the Ceremony & Wedding Breakfast. The hotel thoroughly spoilt us. A huge thanks has to go to Ivan, who on the day was the equivalent of a Personal Butler to us..... he was amazing and a huge credit to the hotel. The food was incredible from the first mouthful of canapes to the sumptuous seven course wedding breakfast, it was sublime and the best Beef Wellington I have ever had.
