About
Originating back to 1712, Kimberley House is now one of the finest wedding venues in Norfolk, and a much-loved family home. Situated upon the 'hill at Downham' in an Arcadian landscape, designed by Lancelot Brown in 1778, the house and its 18th century rooms offer a traditional grandeur.
The House is now owned by Robbie and Iona who dedicate themselves to honouring the history whilst projecting Kimberley Hall into the future of hospitality.
The beauty of Kimberley Hall, is that they've perfectly married the combination between classic and contemporary with the addition of The West Wing. This is blank canvas, every wedding couples dream. So, open your Pinterest board and start planning!
Facilities
We will start by mentioning that Kimberley Hall is incredibly well connected by rail, road and airlinks. However, if you're feeling extra fly on your wedding day, why not make an entrance and use the private airstrip. Now that's a thought...
Civil Ceremony - Music Room
This room is the epitome of classic elegance, exceptional architecture, ornate luxury, exquisite detailing and a truly romantic space to declare your love to one another.
Original John Sanderson plaster work from 1770 adorns the walls, large windows are framed by impressive columns and pillars, a dazzling chandelier hangs gracefully from the intricately designed ceiling. The muted colours and tones further add to the romance of this room, creating an intimate yet grand space to say your vows.
During the colder months, the fire in the Music Room is lit, creating a beautiful winter wonderland with the gentle sound of crackling and a warm glow.
Why not add to the elegance of the day, and hire a Pianist for the grand piano. Imagine walking down the aisle, accompanied by the sound of live music.
Civil ceremony capacity - 120 guests
Duo Ceremony
If you want to say your wedding vows surrounded by the beauty of nature then you should consider a ceremony on the rear manicured lawn, with views overlooking the lake, and the red bricked main house as your backdrop. The legalities take place in The Music Room whilst your guests enjoy their reception drinks. Please speak to the team directly to find out more information regarding this option.
Wedding Reception - The West Wing
Kimberley Hall is certainly not a one trick pony. This stunning red bricked mansion holds a secret. As you move from your classic ceremony through to your reception celebrations, you'll be in for a pleasant surprise. The West Wing is a contemporary yet characterful space for your wedding breakfast and late-night dancing.
The vernacular design with lime-washed red brick, oak floors and impressive ceiling height are a stark contrast to the subtle elegance of the ceremony. This is where you and your guests can let your hair down and kick off your shoes (figuratively speaking) and dance, eat, drink and be merry. The computer-controlled LED lighting system illuminates the roof and walls, bathing them in any colour of your choice. Have a look at the gallery images to see the impressive lighting at work.
The room can seat 120 guests at round tables with a dance floor at the far end. Above you, the upper floor is arranged with comfortable seating and is soundproofed. There is a balcony overlooking the below action, enabling guests to enjoy the entertainment at a distance.
Wedding Breakfast capacity - 120 guests Evening reception capacity - 200 guests
