Rich in history and grandeur, Hensol Castle boasts authentic turrets, a 15 acre lake and original architecture. Available for your exclusive hire, this unique wedding venue makes for a breath-taking backdrop to your special day.

Located on the estate grounds is the prestigious Vale Resort Hotel, with 143 bedrooms and a health club to offer your guests.

History

Hensol Castle was owned by the Jenkins family during the 17th century, and in 1664 it was passed to Judge David Jenkins, the famous lawyer and eccentric royalist who stood against parliament during the Civil War.

In the following years the estate was owned by numerous distinguished figures; including Solicitor General Charles Talbot, who became the Earl of Hensol; Samuel Richardson, a key figure in the world of agriculture and Lady and Benjamin Hall.

In 2003 the estate was purchased by Leekes, a family-run retailer. The castle received a multi-million pound refurbishment, which led to the restoration of the grand function rooms and returned the property to its former splendour.

Facilities

Bursting with period décor, the function rooms at Hensol Castle have been authentically restored. The high arched windows bring in the warmth of natural light, and the oak panelling that decorates the walls and ceilings give the rooms an elegant, romantic feel.

Civil Ceremonies

There are four licenced suites available for your wedding ceremony, each with period features and its own charming character. The most popular choice is the breath-taking Oak Room, no doubt thanks to its wide views across the serpentine lake and beautiful grounds. With original wood panelling, high ceiling and large marble fireplace, the Oak Room is the perfect place in which to exchange your vows.

For larger wedding parties, the Courtyard Hall is a breath-taking space in which to exchange your vows. The Garden Room, with its large windows allowing for plenty of natural light, can hold up to 120 guests, and the Morning Room, situated just across from the Oak Room, is perfect for smaller wedding ceremonies.

My daughter got married at the Castle on 23rd July and I cannot recommend this venue highly enough. The Castle and renovations are absolutely superb, the grounds and views are breath taking and the staff are the most helpful, courteous and attentive I have ever experienced. They truly want to make every aspect of your day a dream come true. I'd recommend
not deciding on a venue until you have visited Hensol Castle. Special thank you to Laura Smith who was our contact at the Vale for the 14 months of the planning and Jodie who was duty manager on the day.
