About

It has been tradition since at least the 1800s to have a coaching inn at Eggesford, due to its position halfway between Exeter and Barnstaple. The Tarka Line Railway, which portrays an economic history of the area, was built nearby in 1851 and still runs today.

As well as its coaching-inn history, The Fox And Hounds used to be a recreational fishing hotel, an activity which is still on offer to this day. Despite much of the building being altered over the years, it still remains prestigious and significant in Eggesford culture.

Garden Ceremony

Treetop Treehouse

Overlooking the forest, gardens and lakes is the Treetop Treehouse, which is licensed for civil ceremonies with up to ten guests. Your party can enjoy a civil ceremony in the picturesque treehouse, champagne, luxury canapés and two nights accommodation.

Catering

The award-winning chefs use fresh ingredients straight from Devonshire farms. They can serve a formal wedding breakfast, or a hog-roast or barbecue - you are invited to discuss your ideas with the wedding planner, who will be keen to cater to your wishes.

Accommodation

The hotel contains 20 ensuite bedrooms plus a luxury treehouse. These include ground-floor rooms with disabled access and family rooms. The luxurious bridal suite contains a monumental 7-foot four-poster bed - which is the largest in the South West!
