Cooks Carriages

Arrive at your wedding in the traditional style of transport with Cooks Carriages. Not to be confused with carthorses, Cooks pride themselves on their high-pedigree carriage horses. Providing fully-qualified coachmen who have worked in the Royal Mews in the past, they have a stunning range of open and closed carriages for you to choose from including gold, white, black and even pink!

Cooks Carriages can be used in all weathers as the hoods can be raised or lowered instantly. Alternatively, they also have closed carriages for the colder months to ensure you enjoy your traditional method of travel. Most of their vehicles are restored Victorian originals, and the horses can achieve up to twelve miles at an average speed of approximately five to seven minutes to the mile.

About

Cooks Carriages participate in the Lord Mayor's Show every year with their original Burgundy Landau, which is pulled by a pair of their stunning Friesian stallions. They have also been showcased on many TV shows including Capital 24, The Riddle and, most notably, EastEnders, where they have featured at the funerals of Nana Moon, Pauline Fowler, Jamie Mitchell and Frank Butcher.

The Carriages

Each of Cooks Carriages is immaculately turned out, with a double hood which can be raised if the weather is wet and windy, or suddenly changes. The majority of their carriages are Victorian originals in perfect condition, and would ensure that you make a glamorous and sophisticated entrance to your big day. They have a mix of open and closed carriages as well as Cinderella and Sovereign Coaches, which are permanently enclosed with glass windows, making them perfect for an autumn or winter wedding.

Cooks Carriages have a total of fourteen wedding carriages varying in colour and style to match your theme, whatever it may be.

  • Glamorous gold
  • Elegant white with gold detailing
  • Stunning white with silver detailing
  • Extravagant pink carriage
  • Beautiful Burgundy and black carriage
  • Sophisticated black carriage

The Horses

Cooks have white/dapple grey Gelderlanders and black Friesian stallions, to be combined with any carriage of your choice so you have the look that you require. The limit they can drive is twelve miles, at speeds of approximately five to seven minutes per mile.

They will use either a pair of horses or a team of four to pull the carriages, depending on the vehicle and number of passengers.

The Service

Cooks Carriages aim to arrive at your chosen pick-up point one hour before they are required to leave for your ceremony. This is so you have plenty of time for photos of you entering the carriage as well as allowing ample time for the journey to your wedding.

They will then wait until after your wedding ceremony is over to convey you, the new Mr and Mrs, onward to the reception venue.
