Clifton College is a highly successful and incredibly beautiful private co-educational boarding school which educates a range of young individuals from the age of 3 to 18.

Opened in 1862, the College's campus features a range of historic listed buildings and lovely outdoor spaces, making it the ideal backdrop to any wedding reception.

The College operates most of the year as a boarding school, so is available for hire only during the school holidays and half-terms. Couples and their guests will enjoy exclusive use of the school's impressive grounds during these times.

The Chapel

The marvellous 19th-century, Grade II*-listed Chapel is made available for marriage services only to ex-students of the college - although you are welcome to receive a blessing in this beautiful building if you have already conducted your actual wedding ceremony elsewhere.

Facilities

The Cricket Pavilion

Located on the edge of the Green Close, this attractive, intimate building is perfect for smaller events. You are also welcome to utilise the Green, making the Cricket Pavilion ideal for sipping champagne on summery evenings. Many couples have even opted to forego the accustomed formality of a three-course meal, and decided instead to use the Pavilion and the Green's space to host a more relaxed, low-key wedding barbecue.

The Cricket Pavilion can seat up to 36 people within the building, and more if you utilise the outdoor space!

The Grand Hall

Also known as the 'Big School' Hall, this large Grade II-listed space features high ceilings, a series of beautiful church-like gabled dormer windows and a wooden-beamed, arched-braced roof. As one of Bristol's favourite wedding reception venues, this is where the majority of Clifton College's formal wedding breakfasts take place.

Newbolt Room and East Cloister

The Newbolt Room is named after the College's renowned 1930s headmaster, and is available as an intimate reception space on its own, or can be conjoined with the nearby East Cloister to accommodate up to 180 guests.

Abbots Leigh Sports Ground

The large Abbots Leigh building is situated away from the Clifton College campus, just over five minutes' drive from Clifton Village. This striking, Palladian-style house can accommodate up to 120 people for a wedding reception, and features its own outdoor grassy area for drinks receptions.

Catering

Clifton College employs its very own full-time in-house catering team, who are more than capable of creating and serving the most delectable and sumptuous cuisine for a large number of wedding guests.

Wedding reception dinners are most regularly served in Clifton College's star space, The Grand Hall, but alternative options for catering services extending to the venue's other buildings, namely The Cricket Pavilion and The Abbots Leigh Sports Ground, are open for discussion too.
