History
Dating back nearly half a millennium, the estate on which the house is set was given to the family by Henry VIII in 1547 in honour of his deceased third wife Jane Seymour, The house's construction began over a century later following the Restoration of 1660.
Finished in 1710, the original mansion was apparently massive. After being reduced in size in 1821 to the estate you see today, the house continues to hold many historic and artistic heirlooms of the early Seymours through to the present Duke of Somerset.
