A brilliant wedding team will allow you to design the wedding of your dreams in one of three majestic rooms. Providing you with a list of excellent caterers, Bodleian Libraries has everything you need for the perfect wedding in a remarkable setting.

History

As one of the oldest libraries in Europe this incredible building is one of the most famous libraries in the world and has an enormous collection of manuscripts and books.

Originally built in the 14th century, the earliest library was fire damaged but later rescued by Thomas Bodley in the 16th century and has since increased in both the size of the buildings and the incredible number of books they hold.

Having been traversed by scholars, royalty and students from all over the world, this library is brimming with history and is an exceptional location for a majestic and extraordinary wedding.

Facilities

Bodleian Libraries have a selection of licensed rooms to choose from and can cater for both intimate or large weddings:

The Divinity School

This grand room is full of gothic architecture and has a beautiful ornate ceiling to create a magnificent atmosphere for your ceremony.

Wedding breakfast capacity - 120 seated guests

Reception capacity - 200 guests

Convocation House & Chancellor's Court

This is a 17th century building that has wooden panelling and was once the University's courtroom.

Capacity - 100 guests

Blackwell Hall

Used as an evening venue this hall has recently been renovated and creates a bright and welcoming space in which to host your wedding.

Wedding breakfast capacity - 250 guests

Reception capacity - 450 guests

With a beautiful roof terrace on the 5th floor you can host a drinks reception for 100 guests whilst taking in the breath-taking surroundings and a panoramic view of Oxford.
