About

Amberley Castle is steeped in so much incredible history. The land was gifted to the King of Wessex in 683 AD. The castle that currently stands proud owes its origins to a timber-framed hunting lodge built in 1103. Over 400 years the lodge became transformed into a manor house designed for battle. However, the Castle was not safe from the English reformation when the space was leased to royalist strong holds, consequently leading Cromwell in 1634 to send defence which destroyed the Curtain Walls and Great Hall, creating a ruin.

In recent years Amberley Castle has received the love it deserves. From 1982-1987, Hollis Baker reinstated the 2.5 ancient portcullis. Since 1989 Amberley Castle has been a luxury hotel that has been enjoyed by guests from all over the globe, and hopefully you and your wedding guests too.

Ceremony

You will begin your day alongside your guests, welcomed by their professional team before your ceremony takes place in the Great Room, through a 12th century archway. This splendid space can accommodate up to 56 guests who can witness the beautiful moment you exchange your vows. You can also enjoy one-of-a-kind views of the hotel's courtyard, and are treated to direct access to the gardens.

If you are looking for something a little more intimate, your ceremony will unfold in the King Charles I Room, for you and twelve of your loved ones. With wood-panelled walls, fireplaces and unbeatable views across the South Downs, your wedding nerves will fade away as you say 'I do'.

Drinks Reception

It's time for the celebrations, but will you go indoors to their charming lounge or outside to their lovingly-tended courtyards? Either way you will be treated to Savour Champagne and canapés, as well as phenomenal photo opportunities.

Wedding Breakfast

With a choice from three dining rooms, each with their own style and charm, your three-course wedding breakfast will be served with only the most outstanding of service.

Evening Reception
